Dred I Dread Launches the 2nd Reggae Festival at the Harriet Brewing

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized

Dred I Dread and Harriet Brewing are proud to present our 2nd Reggae Festival on September 5th, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Our first event in past June was very successful and by the popular public demand, we decided to throw another party during the Labor Day Weekend

The event will be held at Harriet Brewing 3036 Minnehaha Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55406 and this is a FREE event featuring some of the best home grown talent.

The event will start at 1:00 PM with guest DJs spinning Reggae and Ska through Prizefighter Hi-Fi Sound System. The Prizefighter Hi-Fi Sound System is a passion project our local ska and reggae DJ Aaron Porter who wanted to build his own authentic Jamaican-styled reggae-fueled sound system to make all the old Jamaican records in his collection sound like they were MEANT to be heard.

At 2:00 PM new and exciting Reggae Cover Band The Non-Prophets will take the stage. The Non-Prophets bring a fresh approach while covering Toots and The Maytals, Bob Marley, The Cure, Boston and even Black Sabbath.

At 4:30 PM The Prizefighters  will take the stage. The Prizefighters are a band on a mission: bring the rough and tough sounds of 1960s Jamaica to Minnesota dance floors. Born from a collective passion for traditional ska, Rocksteady, early reggae and soul music, The Prizefighters‘ sound is crafted by a deliberate determination to give new life to these boss sounds and hand-deliver this sweet music to new ears in the Twin Cities and across the globe.

Dred I Dread‘ s stage time is set as 6:00 PM. Dred I Dread is a two time Minnesota Music Awards winning band and chosen The Best Reggae Band by the readers of the City Pages magazine. The Band recently returned from recording and touring in Jamaica and will feature the new songs from their upcoming album “Listen to the Evolution”. The album is featuring global Reggae legends including Earl “Chinna” Smith and Tony Asher and it is to be released this Fall. Dred I Dread’ s sound is an infusion of 70′ s and early 80′ s Reggae music with Hip Hop. The key element of Dred I Dread’ s music is always producing original and socially conscious Reggae music with a message.

In addition to the Reggae and Ska music, Harriet Brewing is offering Growler Specials. Plus, Caribbean food will be served by food trucks and there are plans of bringing an ice cream truck for the kids.

The festival will be concluded by Guest DJs spinning Reggae music until the closing time.

Come and Listen to the Evolution!
